Before and After Each Game
Before each game, your team will have 5 minutes to warm up. This warm-up begins on fresh ice and then we start the first period. The warm-up pucks will be there for you. After the warm-up, please pick up the pucks. Teams will play 3 periods of 15 minutes stop time. There will be a flood after the first period. After the game, the teams will shake hands and then the ice will be cleaned.
If in the 3rd period there is a difference of 5 goals, we could take the decision of playing a straight time period.
TIE BREAKING FORMULA
During the round robin format of the tournament the winning team will receive 2 points and if there is a tie both teams will receive 1 point.
If two teams are tied on equality of points in the standings after completion of the round-robin, the following tie breaking criteria applies:
1. Team who won the game between the two teams tied. (Does not apply to AAA division)
2. Team with most wins.
3. Least goals against in all games.
4. Best goal differential in all games.
5. Least amount of penalty minutes from all games played in the group.
6. The team that scored the earliest in the tournament.
7. If teams are still tied, the team who wins the coin toss.
If three or more teams have the same number of points in the group after completion of the round-robin, then the following tie breaking criteria applies (with no secondary return to the head-to-head results):
NOTE: If any ot the teams did not play against each other, then steps 2 and 3 do not apply.
1.Team with most wins
2.Least goals against in the standing between the teams involved.
3.Best goal differential between the teams involved.
4.Least goals against from all games played in the group.
5.Best goal differential from all games played in the group.
6.Least amount of penalty minutes from all games played in the group.
7.The team that scored the earliest in the tournament.
8.If teams are still tied, the team who wins the coin toss.
Games
Each game will consist of 3 periods of 15 minutes stop time. A 5 minutes warm-up will start on fresh ice. There will be floods after the 1st period and after the game.
If a team does not show-up to play, the other team shall be awarded a 5 to 0 victory and shall also be awarded 2 points.
Playoff Games
In the event of a tie game during the playoff portion of the tournament, one five minute, sudden victory period will be played and will begin with teams playing three on three (not including goaltender). If the game is still tied, a shootout will take place consisting of three players as chosen from each team. The away team shoots first. The team with the most goals wins the game. If team are tied after three shooters, the shootout will continue susing one shooter per team until one team scores. No player can shoot twice for his/her team until all players have shot.
In the case of penalties during the overtime, for each penalty assessed, the non-penalized team adds a player; the penalized players jumps on the ice at the end of his/her penalty; teams then play 4 on 4, or 5 on 5 until the next whistle.
SPECIAL NOTE: If games are cancelled due to inclement weather, an alternative version of the schedule will be sent out. In the even that there is not enough ice time to make up affected games, all preliminary round games will be shortened.
Jerseys
The home team (first one listed on the schedule) will wear their dark jerseys; the visiting team will wear their white jerseys.
Time outs
Teams will be allowed one time out per game for all games.
Penalties and Suspensions
NBIAA regulations will be used, except in the following cases:
1. Any player who has been assessed a major penalty will automatically receive a game misconduct. As well, he/she will be suspended from his/her next game in the tournament. A second such infraction will result in the player being suspended from the Tournament.
2. A 10-minute misconduct penalty will not result in any further action being taken by the Tournament Committee. However, the Tournament Committee reserves the right to impose further penalty or sanction in the case of a second 10-minute misconduct penalty assessed by the Game Officials.
3. Any player who receive a 5 major and game misconduct shall be suspended for the next game. If a player receives a game misconduct in the last 10 minutes of a game, that player shall be suspended for the next game.
4. Any player, coach, or manager receiving a match or gross misconduct penalty is automatically suspended for the remainder of the Tournament.
5. If, in the opinion of the Tournament Committee, a player or coach is behaving, on the ice, behind the bench, in the stands or in any venue associated with the tournament, in a manner contrary to the Tournament theme of fair play and sportsmanship, the team will be issued a warning. If the player or coach
does not adjust his/her behavior immediately and permanently, that person will be suspended from further participation in the Tournament.
6. None of these sanctions is subject to appeal. The decisions of the Tournament Committee’s discipline board are final.
